Fungal Nails
What are fungal nails?
Fungal nails (Onychomycosis) happen when a naturally occurring fungus that is in your nail, overgrows.
Fungal infections may infect part or whole nails. The infections develop slowly and cause the nail to become discoloured, thick and sometimes misshapen. The nail plate may also become soft and break away. Fungal infections are seen more often in the toe nails than in the finger nails. The most common type of fungal infection is onychomycosis.
Treatment for fungal nails
Fungal nails can be treated by reducing the thickness using a ceramic bur. Different medicaments should then be applied but the most important part of successful treatment is that it must be continually applied daily by the patient. Total Foot Repair uses Emtrix and Mykored.
