Dry, cracked heels are a common problem, especially in the summer months when our feet are exposed more.
Treatment
Total Foot Repair uses a paddle file to reduce the thickness of skin or sanding cups which are used with a drill. ‘Flexitol’ with 25% urea is then applied to the dry skin.
Fissures
Fissures are often deep and can be very painful when standing. They may even bleed and become infected. Prolonged standing, the overweight, poor footwear choices and certain medical conditions all increase the risk of fissures occurring. Spilts and fissures also occur as a result of dryness or reduced elasticity and are commonly seen on the rim of the heel.
